Plenus Group, Inc, is a food manufacturer with an extensive line of versatile soups, sauces and value-added specialty food items, our foodservice division offers restaurants and grocery stores many delicious ways to please their customers.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Entry-Level Cook will assist in food preparation and basic cooking tasks while ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a professional kitchen setting within the food manufacturing industry.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and measuring vegetables, meats, and other food items.
- Perform basic cooking tasks, including baking, boiling, steaming, and assembling food products as directed.
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and properly storing food.
- Rotate stock and monitor food storage to ensure freshness and proper inventory management.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to efficiently fulfill production needs and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support kitchen and food preparation processes.
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Basic knife skills and ability to follow food preparation instructions.
- Understanding basic cooking techniques and ability to work with kitchen equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in food preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining food quality and safety standards.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from kitchen supervisors.
- Knowledge of basic food safety practices and sanitation regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs repetitively.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp objects, and food allergens.
- Must be able to focus on tasks for extended periods while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior kitchen or food service experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to undergo food safety training and certification as needed.
