CNC Multi Spindle Lead Machinist

POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the CNC Multi Spindle Lead Machinist oversees all technical elements of the Multi Spindle Department.

This includes: &* Seventeen (17) cam style, multi spindle lathes

o Four (4) 7/8 Davenports
o Seven (7) 1 Wickmans
o One (1) 3 Wickman
o Three (3) 1 Wickmans

o One (1) 9/16 Acme Gridley

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: &* Reviewing new parts for feasibility

&* Reviewing Quote packages, customer drawings, and specifications for incorporation into
the production process
&* Determining machine requirements such as feeds, speeds, dimensions and tolerances
&* Developing and maintaining applicable tooling

&* Performing first run setups

RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and

for all duties of the job.

&* Perform close tolerance machine setup operations such as centering, drilling, reaming, tapping, thread cutting and forming, and turning
&* Dress, grind or sharpen tools as necessary
&* Supervise the daily maintenance of machines, including lubrication
&* Work from drawing specifications and job layouts using a variety of measuring instruments
&* Oversee machine and tool adjustments
&* Oversee tool use as required
&* Oversee the use of cutting tools
&* Oversee floor inspections
&* Maintain and improve insert and tooling management
&* Train Multi Spindle staff

&* Be quality conscious and continuously look for quality improvements

REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

&* High School Diploma or G.E.D.
&* 10 years of comparable machine setup experience
&* The ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area, including equipment and perform
all assignments in safe manner
&* Exhibit core values of integrity and accountability
&* The ability to read, write, speak and hear, interpret documents and instructions in
written, oral, blueprint, diagram and schedule form in English
&* The ability to perform the necessary math
&* The ability to work at established levels of production
&* The ability to lift and carry of up to 50 pounds safely
&* Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, crouch and kneel

&* Vision requirements include (corrective and non) close range, distance, color, peripheral, depth and ability to adjust focus

&* Comply with all company, safety and quality policies and procedures
