Accounts Receivable Manager

  1. Responsible for overseeing and supervising all functions of the Accounts Receivable Department. This includes insuring that all third party and client billing is sent out and followed up on in an accurate and timely manner.
  2. Provides direct supervision and training to A/R Department staff, intake and admissions, managed care assistants, provides training to the Psychiatry program assistant and the Exeter office supports staff.
  3. Interacts with the Bureau of Behavioral Health and staff from other Community Mental Health Centers in regard to receivables issues.
  4. Maintains current knowledge of requirements for optimal third party reimbursement.
  5. Oversees all managed care contracts (HMO,PPO,etc.).
  1. Coordinates new contract submission and periodic review of existing contracts.
  2. Attends training meetings given by managed care companies regarding their contracts. Coordinates attendance at these meetings if other personnel should also attend.
  3. Provides information and training regarding clinical and billing procedures. Coordinates procedures and protocol prior to significant new managed care contracts going into effect.
  4. Oversees development of format for packets with forms and an outline of the requirements to be given to therapists for each managed care contract.
  5. Develop and oversee maintenance of "Managed Care Manual" outlining coverage and participating staff for each contract.
  6. Orients new staff and interns to our managed care contracts and protocol.
  1. Works collaboratively with other SMHC department staff to insure that receivable policies and procedures are being followed and/or updated as required.
  2. Assists in emergency/disaster response per the Center’s Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  3. Performs other work related duties as required.
  4. Holds an Associate's Degree in Business Management or a related field with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience in medical AR (Accounts Receivable). Alternatively, possesses at least three years of supervisory experience in medical AR, irrespective of academic qualifications.
  5. Exhibits prior professional experience in the medical or healthcare sector.
  6. Demonstrates solid supervisory or management abilities and experience.
  7. Shows ability to step up, exude high levels of energy and determination, and handle resistance.
  8. Has proven experience in instituting new processes within an Accounts Receivable department to enhance efficiency.
  9. Medicaid background is highly desirable.
  10. Must have proficiency in EHR (Electronic Health Records).
  11. Intermediate skill level or higher in using Microsoft Excel.
