We are currently seeking an SQL Database Administrator with 3-5 years of IT database experience for a contract role. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and practical experience with SQL server database administration. The Ideal candidate will be able to commute to or live in Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Storage and Organization: Implement SQL procedures and software applications for effective data storage and organization.
2. Security: Ensure data integrity by preventing unauthorized access while simultaneously facilitating access for authorized users.
3. Performance Management: Monitor and optimize database performance, making necessary adjustments to maximize efficiency.
4. Database Creation and Maintenance: Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of databases and the installation and patching of SQL Server.
5. User Permissions: Manage user permissions, ensuring correct and appropriate levels of database accessibility.
6. Backups: Design and implement a robust backup and recovery strategy and conduct regular tests to ensure data protection.
7. Compliance: Ensure adherence to database vendor licensing agreements to prevent any legal complications.
8. Reporting: Utilize your SQL skills for generating meaningful reports via database querying.
9. Database Migration: Oversee the migration of database instances to new hardware and software while minimizing downtime.

Job Requirements:

1. Must live in or be able to commute to Chicago
2. 3-5 years of experience in IT database administration, specifically SQL Server administration.
3. Proven experience in database structuring, data storage, and organization.
4. Experience ensuring database security, performance, backup, and migrations.
5. Ability to manage user permissions and compliance.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
