About Our Client

The Agriculture Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales of high-quality seeds to agricultural clients, including farmers, cooperatives, and distributors. This role combines technical agricultural expertise with sales skills to promote seed products that meet specific crop requirements and yield goals.

The Sales Engineer partners closely with clients to understand their unique soil, climate, and crop needs, recommending seeds that maximize productivity and sustainability.

Job Description
  • Seed Product Sales: Develop and execute sales strategies to promote and sell a range of seeds tailored for specific crops, such as grains, vegetables, or specialty crops. Understand clients' crop cycles, soil types, and local climate conditions to make informed product recommendations.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with farmers, cooperatives, distributors, and agronomists. Regularly visit farms and customer sites to provide consultation on seed selection, planting methods, and yield optimization.
  • Technical Support and Advisory: Advise clients on best practices for planting, fertilization, and pest management that complement seed products. Provide guidance on crop rotation, soil health, and other factors that impact seed performance and yield.
  • Market Analysis and Strategy: Conduct market research to stay current with trends in crop demand, competitor seed products, and new seed varieties. Use this information to adjust sales strategies and identify new opportunities in the region.
  • Sales Targets and Reporting: Meet monthly and quarterly sales goals for seed products. Track sales activities, maintain records of customer interactions, and prepare reports on sales performance, client feedback, and market conditions.
  • Product Training and Field Demonstrations: Conduct on-site field trials and demonstrations of seed varieties to showcase performance under local conditions. Educate customers on the benefits of specific seed types and help them select seeds suited to their farming goals.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, product development, and marketing teams to communicate customer feedback and market needs. Provide input to help develop or improve seed products that address farmers' challenges.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all sales activities align with regulatory standards, including seed quality certifications and regional agricultural guidelines. Maintain accurate records of product performance, crop results, and any issues encountered.

The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in agricultural sales, specifically seed sales, or agronomic consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of seed genetics, crop production, soil health, and plant diseases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and MS Office; knowledge of farm management or precision agriculture software is a plus.
  • Ability to travel frequently to farms and customer sites.
