How you make a difference:

The Dental Assistant job position requires a candidate who can support the dentist or designee by documenting dental services provided. This involves maintaining accurate dental charts, recording dental findings, and scheduling appointments in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Dental Assistant provides chair-side assistance to the dentist by passing instruments, keeping the operating field clear, and suctioning. They take x-rays, pour impression casts, maintain logs, and escort patients to and from the waiting area while documenting as required. Effective communication with patients is a key requirement for this position.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the dental clinic, sterilizing instruments, cleaning equipment, ordering supplies, and arranging for equipment repair and routine maintenance, are daily operational functions performed in accordance with OSHA standards and infection control policies.
  • Participation in ongoing quality improvement and chart review activities is required to ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained.
  • Scheduling patients for appointments, follow-ups, and notifications of appointments is part of the role. The Dental Assistant should be sensitive to cultural diversity issues and treat patients with individual care and treatment consistent with their age and developmental needs.
  • Continued professional development through workshops, conferences, self-study, and in-service education is necessary to maintain current knowledge and applicable skills. Additionally, knowledge of disaster and fire procedures, infection control, and risk management is expected.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education
  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
Experience
  • Completed Dental Assistant Program. Two (2) years dental assistant experience to include assisting and sterilization techniques, knowledge of dental procedures and equipment, infections control, and safety measures procedures.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Certification as a Dental Assistant is required.
