Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity in the industry. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of financial functions, including the preparation of budgets, expense analysis, invoicing, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

This role will also involve facilitating audits, assisting in the payroll process, and participating in department and association projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and assist with financial audits
  • Prepare and execute bank deposits
  • Participate in the month end close process by creating and posting journal entries
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger, balance sheet, and subsidiary accounts
  • Assist in the payroll process to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Participate in department and association projects and initiatives as needed
  • Perform financial functions which may include preparation of budgets, expense analysis, periodic invoicing and financial reporting
  • Responsible for monthly reporting of 3rd party memberships
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth and follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
  • Work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining General Ledger
  • Knowledge of Journal Entries preparation and management
  • Familiarity with Month End Close procedures
  • Proficiency in the use of NetSuite and Oracle for accounting purposes
  • Experience with QuickBooks software for financial management
  • Knowledge of SAP software for business operations and customer relations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Willingness to continue professional development and stay updated with accounting trends and changes.
