REAL ESTATE ACCOUNTANT

Anna Parson at Robert Half is seeking a sharp, meticulous, detail oriented Real Estate Accountant to join a Real Estate firm located in the Hicksville, NY area. This role involves handling accounting functions for real estate operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.

As the Real Estate Accountant, you will:

• Manage the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Enter and track all accounting transactions to ensure proper accounting in the system.
• Assist in the month end close and prepare necessary journal entries and reconcile all accounts.
• Handle accrual accounting tasks to maintain up-to-date financial records.
• Carry out real estate specific accounting tasks, including property and asset accounting and reporting on various properties.
• Process rental invoices on a monthly basis and ensure rent payments are current.
• Assist in preparing property budgets and track actuals to budget.
• Assist in audit prep and providing required support.

Seeking a Real Estate Accountant with Real Estate and or Property Management Accounting experience and excellent communication skills.

• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Property Accountant or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in using AppFolio property management software.
• Solid understanding of basic and advanced accounting functions.
• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Knowledge of accrual accounting is essential.
• Familiarity with real estate accounting practices and regulations.
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
