Senior Director of Philanthropy

Job Summary: Create, execute, and evaluate all individual and organizational fundraising strategies with a donor-centered philosophy to ensure a diverse and sustainable revenue portfolio to support HealthSource of Ohio’s mission and substantial growth over the next five to ten years.

Reporting to the CEO and Vice President of Marketing to develop and strengthen relationships with key individuals and stakeholders organized in a comprehensive HealthSource portfolio.

Ideal Candidate: The preferred candidate is a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and is a proven leader of businesses and people. They will have a demonstrated track record of conceptualizing and launching new products and ideas while consistently delivering revenue results through an effective performance-driven culture.
This leader will have the experience and ability to evaluate business challenges and opportunities and develop a successful strategy and plan. Ideal candidates are metrics and data-driven in their approach to managing the business, hold teams accountable, and adjust quickly when appropriate.

The successful candidate is adaptable, able to reprioritize and shift gears quickly, and comfortable in a fast-paced, results-focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Delivers the HSO brand promise of putting the patient/customer at the center of all we do.
  2. Plan and implement individual and corporate donor cultivation, stewardship, and outreach events.
  3. Oversight of all individual and organizational fundraising aspects, including prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and gift acknowledgment for meeting or exceeding income goals.
  4. Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization that engages and inspires staff and board to participate in philanthropic activities.
  5. Create a donor-centered organization that nurtures loyalty through a comprehensive relationship-building program.
  6. Effectively steward all donors and cultivate new potential partners; initiate donor/prospect calls and visits and solicit funds for the organization.
  7. Maintain a streamlined system for donor, foundation, corporate, and prospect records using an in-depth understanding of databases, from the conceptual to the tactical.
  8. Manage a portfolio of 50 top prospects and develop strategies for HealthSource of Ohio’s portfolio, including specific prospects/donors managed by the CEO. (The number is to be adjusted based on evolving strategies and research.);
  9. Manage a personal portfolio of 50 top prospects. (Number to be adjusted based upon evolving strategies and research.).
  10. Work with the Marketing Team on the preparation of donor materials.
  11. With the support of the Marketing Team, execute communications plan, including production of the weekly e-newsletter, direct mail, updating of the website content, marketing special events, managing production of all print/electronic ads and collateral and ads, coordinating all media outreach and social media for the organization, and managing staff working on the plan.
  12. Manage effective working relationships with foundation officers, donors, vendors, and consultants, etc.
  13. Ensure coordination with the Marketing Department in managing individual and foundation relationships, including development and review of grant proposals, participation in donor meetings, fundraising, and donor appreciation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline
