The State Highway Administration (SHA) is seeking to fill an executive service position foran Assistant District Engineer, Traffic (Administrator VII). The resulting list of eligible
candidates will be used to fill current and future vacancies in this classification throughout
SHA. This position is open to anyone who meets the preferred qualifications below.
Nature of Work: This position will manage a Traffic Engineering Program. The Assistant
District Engineer for Traffic (ADE-T) will also serve as the District Engineer in their absenceand will direct all traffic operations within the assigned district. The ADE-T is primarily
responsible for directing a staff of professional, technical, supervisory skilled and clerical
personnel engaged in traffic studies and traffic operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school
equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six (6) years of experience in administrative or professional work. Six (6) years
of professional level highway traffic engineering experience. Three (3) years of the requiredexperience must have been in a supervisory capacity or exercising responsibility for program
development.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS: Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the state of Maryland with
less than four (4) points.

Special Requirements: This position is considered essential and is expected to be available to work 24 hours/day
7days/week for inclement weather and/or other emergency events.
