Overview:

The Lift Mechanic will troubleshoot, maintain and repair ski lift equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation of the resorts chair lifts and associated equipment. Preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is performed year-round in changing and extreme weather conditions on fixed grip, detachable grip and surface lifts.

Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.
  • Maintain, repair and insure safe operation of all The Highlands chairlifts, carpets and other cable rope transportation systems.
  • Able to stand and sit for long periods of time, use ladders and work at variable heights up to 50 feet.
  • Prepare and safety check lifts for daily operation before Lift Operations arrives.
  • Perform scheduled routine maintenance as well as diagnostic maintenance.
  • Regularly inspect safety switches, control circuits, sheaves, bull-wheel liners, bushings, cables, grips, electrical systems, chairs, and towers for signs of wear, stress, or fatigue.
  • Conduct maintenance work and minor repairs on electrical motors, auxillary engines, brakes and brake motors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Maintain certifications, licenses and training as necessary.
  • Be able to understand and follow all ANSI, State, and Federal Guidelines.
  • Understanding maintenance recommendations of all ski lift manufactures by interpreting diagrams and manufacture manuals.
  • Assist in other tasks as determined by the Lift Maintenance Manager, including but not limited to; lift construction, refinishing, lift operations, and other resort needs.
  • Be able to think critically and pay attention to detail.
  • Willing and able to participate in all maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude consistently, including during high stress situations.
  • Be able to work concurrently with all Resort staff and encourage a productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule during the winter season (days/nights and/or weekdays/weekends)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in summer/winter including inclement weather
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 pounds
  • Must have at least 2 years of Lift Maintenance experience
  • Able to stand and sit for long periods, use ladders and work at variable heights up to 50 feet.
  • Work environment can be loud at times. Including being around operating equipment and inside motor houses with running machinery.
  • Will assist in lift operations trainings
