Drafting/CAD Technician
A Drafting/CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This role designs and prepares detailed mechanical and architectural schematics using CAD software, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process improvements while solving complex design challenges.

salary: $35.71 - 42.85 per hour
work hours: 8am to 5pm

responsibilities:
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) systems for mechanical and architectural structures.
- Prepare drawings and schematics for mechanical equipment and structures.
- Apply digitizing techniques to create and modify designs.
- Perform engineering computations and prepare/revise specifications.
- Solve complex design-related problems using technical knowledge and experience.
- Work independently to resolve most issues, seeking direction only for cross-functional or broad-impact concerns.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Frequently communicate with internal teams and possibly external stakeholders.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze and solve technical problems independently.
- Experience in preparing and managing engineering documentation and specifications.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- strong CAD skills, particularly in SolidWorks and EPDM.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree (AAS) in Drafting/Design or Mechanical Technology required.
- 7+ years of experience working with CAD in a professional setting.
