We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as an Early Learning Director/Lead Teacher at our Early Learning Center in Mamaroneck, NY. This dynamic role involves supporting the implementation of the curriculum in the Preschool Classroom, as well as taking on essential administrative duties to ensure the success of the center.
PAY: $17-$20 per hour
SCHEDULE: 3:20-6:00pm
RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
Curriculum Support: Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure our curriculum is effectively implemented, creating an enriching learning environment for our young students.Administrative Duties: Take ownership of administrative tasks, including planning, organizing, and overseeing childcare services. Exercise independent judgment in areas like budgeting, policy compliance, and staff training and supervision.
DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Engagement: Work closely with the marketing team to promote the center through open houses, events, and outreach efforts to boost enrollment and meet local needs.Licensing Compliance: Ensure operations comply with the Office of Children and Family Services Day Care regulations, fostering positive relationships with local OCFS licensors.
Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate student records in line with OCFS requirements and ensure adherence to regulations.Facility Management: Oversee the physical space, including sourcing supplies and developmentally appropriate equipment, ensuring compliance with ECERS guidelines.
Staffing: Manage all staffing aspects, from recruitment to training, ensuring a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care.
Communication and Collaboration: Use HR and Registration platforms to streamline operations. Foster open communication with staff, parents, and caregivers, providing ongoing resources and support.
Program Enhancement: Become proficient in ECERS, Creative Curriculum, and CLASS observations, integrating these tools to enhance program quality.
Parent Engagement: Conduct biannual parent-teacher conferences and provide guidance to staff and support to parents.
LEAD TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Crafting Adventures: Develop and implement weekly lesson plans using the Creative Curriculum to support children's development across all domains.Building Bonds: Create positive adult/child interactions using the CLASS method to ensure every child feels seen and valued.
Safety First: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, adhering to ECERS/ITERS standards to maintain a nurturing environment.
Keeping Connected: Maintain communication with parents and caregivers via the Playground App, email, and face-to-face meetings.
Tracking Progress: Conduct developmental evaluations and schedule regular parent conferences to discuss children's growth, needs, and interests.
Smooth Transitions: Support families through transitions from toddler to preschool and preschool to kindergarten, providing emotional and developmental support.
Team Support: Keep Assistants informed with classroom and program updates, offering guidance and training to ensure everyone is aligned.
Continuous Learning: Take advantage of ongoing in-service and educational opportunities offered by Healthy Kids, as we believe in investing in your growth every step of the way.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To qualify as a Director, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
A bachelor's degree, including or in addition to 12 credits in early childhood, child development, or a related field; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home, or another early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field; or
A New York State childrens program administrator credential; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home, or another early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field; or
An associates degree in early childhood or a related field, with a plan of study leading to a bachelors degree or a New York State childrens program administrator credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home, or another early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field; or
A child development associate credential or another office-recognized credential, with a plan of study leading to a bachelors degree or a New York State childrens program administrator credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home, or another early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prepared to undergo a background check, including fingerprinting, references, and SEL & SCR via NYS Office of Children and Family Services.Cleared by your doctor to perform all job duties, free from communicable diseases, including TB.
Warm, friendly, and energetic. Excellent people skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Professional, reliable, and punctual.
Able to lead and motivate a team, committed to delivering high-quality childcare.
Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry (up to 50 lbs.) to keep up with active children.
