We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Construction/Contractor industry, located in Roseville, Minnesota. This role is primarily focused on project accounting, providing critical financial support to our construction projects.
As a Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information related to our projects.
Responsibilities:- Ensuring the accurate and timely coding and processing of subcontractor and supplier invoices, including verification of approval.
- Thoroughly reviewing the construction contract requirements for assigned projects to ensure all financial aspects are properly managed.
- Proactively monitoring customer and subcontractor contract amounts and change orders in our financial system.
- Ensuring all project costs are appropriately accounted for and processed in a timely manner.
- Preparing and reconciling project billings, making sure all allowable costs are billed promptly.
- Keeping track of subcontractor lien waivers, for all applicable Tiers (I, II, III & IV) and ensuring they are collected and recorded accurately.
- Preparing necessary journal entries to keep financial records up-to-date and accurate.
- Conducting regular account and monthly reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and general ledger checks.
- Ensuring completed projects are closed out on time, adhering to the close documents.
- Identifying any costs improperly charged to a project and rectifying the error. • Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation
- Extensive knowledge in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries
- Demonstrated ability in performing Month End Close procedures
- Experience in Monthly Reconciliation
- Familiarity with Job Cost and Project Cost methods
- Construction/Contractor industry experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
