THE POSITION
Sr Staff Systems Engineer, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:
Develop and oversee Functional Safety design decisions and problem solving on application projects within the Architecture & Networking Automotive Business Area of Continental. Lead project teams through successful product and Functional Safety lifecycles.Develop Functional Safety concepts, including system architecture and requirements, and apply to a target system or product. Develop and apply Functional Safety customer requirements. Act as Functional Safety Lead to drive the development of automotive electronic control units in compliance with the Continental development process and international standard ISO 26262.
Manage Functional Safety with the customer and internal development team. Support and perform safety analyses on products system, hardware, and software. Support and develop safety concepts for system architectures and specify safety requirements for system, hardware and software disciplines.
Perform Safety Requirements management (elicitation, analysis, prioritization, traceability, changes, metrics). Conduct reviews with product teams, external assessors, and clients to ensure Functional Safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles.
Telecommuting permitted up to 50% per week.
Full time employment, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressive, related work experience.
Must have 5 years of experience using embedded system design practices and solutions for automotive applications.
Must have 4 years of experience developing technical safety requirements for electrical or electronic systems within road vehicles, in accordance with ISO 26262.
Must have 3 years of experience using systems and software requirements best practices to develop safety relevant electrical or electronic systems in road vehicles.
Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
Performing safety analysis, developing safety requirements or concepts, or performing safety validation, verification, and testing activities; andUsing project management concepts to define the scope, development activities, effort required, timing, and cost for automotive projects.
