Human Resources Specialist

Assist the Director of Human Resources with all tasks and projects related to human resources.
  • Work in collaboration with program management and the Director of Human Resources on recruitment and retention initiatives including posting jobs, screening candidates for employment, completing background checks, and onboarding new staff.
  • Responsible for data entry and file maintenance for all personnel related items. Responsible for running reports as requested. Must be able to work in a confidential and professional manner with all employees.
  • As the Chair of the Safety Committee, works with the operations team and program management to coordinate the overall safety program for the agency.
  • Monitor and maintain employee training records. Assist with training new staff, including safety related training. Act as the primary contact person for the online training system.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with benefits administration. Responsible for providing benefit information to new employees, enrolling employees in coverage based on their elections, and coordinating the open enrollment process.
  • Assist the Operations Team in the development of agency policies and procedures. Maintain and update policies as necessary.
  • Assist with workers compensation claims including reporting and maintaining records.
  • Assist in the investigation of complaints as needed. Assist the Director of Human Resources with other projects and initiatives as requested.
Requirements
  • All candidates for employment are required to pass a Department of Human Services background check and a criminal background check.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and ability to work with confidential information is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must have a good recent driving record and be insurable under the terms set by our insurance carrier. The person in this position will work primarily in the St. Paul Administrative office but will spend time at all seven MSS centers assisting with onboarding and training.
