Software Development Engineer, Ring

Millions of Ring devices around the world are used by our customers to help make neighborhoods safer. Services within our team are critical to understanding and processing the state of devices in real-time. Our services are leveraged within the Ring Mobile App, alongside other internal customers to view the current state of customer devices.

Our services also manage notification flows based on state a device may enter, including low battery notifications. On this team, you will get to work closely with software, firmware, and product teams across Ring and Amazon.

As a Software Development Engineer for the Ring device health service platform, you will collaborate with a team of engineers in the development of backend cloud services that manage device state data. You will be challenged to build systems that are highly scalable, available, and secure as Ring continues to grow.

As an engineer, you'll contribute and lead technical discussions that drive features for our customers. The team places a strong focus on maintaining high standards, reusability, and long-term thinking to ensure our solutions are extensible at scale.

Our team uses a variety of technologies and languages, including Java, Scala, Python, and GoLang.

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
