About The Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Business Analyst. The Business Analyst provides business analysis to various business units throughout the bank. Works closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of their business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates.
Understand how technology impacts and enables the processes throughout the business units. Reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological areas for improvement in efficiency.
Provides consulting to IT and business management on applying technology to business opportunities, planning and implementation of cross-functional applications. Acts as a steward of business interest on projects to deliver the right solution with a focus on product features, controls and cost.

Leverages the understanding of systems, and relationships with business and IT players to create an environment where performers are motivated to do the right thing and excel. Provides input to senior management on department/area-level challenges and opportunities.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. BUSINESS ANALYSIS / INTERNAL CONSULTING
Provides consulting services to internal business groups on process improvement opportunities. Elicit business requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
Identify opportunities to capture efficiency, increase revenue, reduce risk, lower cost, and improve the overall performance of the bank. Responsible for defining scope, requirements, design, and systems integration of new projects/processes.

Identify gaps, potential IT solution options, risk assessments and implementation of defect fixes

  1. APPLICATION IMPLEMENTATIONS
Provides business analysis support on bank projects. Works with the various stakeholders to generate business requirements. Leverage those business requirements to assist the business in the vendor selection process. Determine and document any business process changes that are required as a part of the implementation.

Work with the business lines on implementation of those process changes for a smooth transition. Develop test plans that can be used for validating requirements and testing systems prior to implementation. Understand the downstream impacts that the implementation has on other systems in the process.

  1. PROJECT METHODOLOGY
Drive program structure and discipline and promote use of project processes, templates, and tools based on complexity and schedule of the project. Execute project management standards and principles across the organization to drive the high-quality execution of each project.

Create viable project charters that tie to strategy and business requirements. Investigates documents and resolves project deficiencies and follows up to keep projects on schedule within budgeted cost constraints. Assists and/or Leads project team towards achieving predetermined goals and results.

  1. VENDOR LIAISON

Serves as primary contact with vendors on applications as assigned including working with vendors on consulting and project related initiatives.

Required Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Position requires 3-5 years or progressive IT experience, 1-2 years of proven experience as a business analyst, and a B.S. in business/technology or related field. Must have experience in the following areas: Business analysis (e.g., analysis of business partnerships, financial models); process reengineering; develop and implement training; design and write procedures; and application configuration and analysis.
  2. Must have proficiency in MS Office, Visio, and MSProject.
  3. Advanced problem solving skills required in order to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources. Situations require operational knowledge of all banking units and understanding of complex financial and programming analysis.
  4. Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  5. Position requires a high level of internal and external contacts to evaluate and make recommendations on complex and varied issues. Works with all levels of management to resolve complex issues. Must be able to develop procedures and present formal training internally.
  6. Work is under minimal supervision where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing procedures and recommendations of alternative procedures and work routines. Plans and arranges own work, referring only very unusual matters to department manager.
  7. Work requires a high level of mental effort involving complex applications such as programming and report development. PC work for extended periods is frequently required. Work is often under tight time constraints.
  8. The ability to develop and execute detailed testing scripts, plans, and project documentation that minimizes bank risk. Position requires writing skills to document system problems and recommended solutions in a clear and concise manner.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.

Compensation Information:

At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.
