Administration - Accounts Payable Specialist

Our professional staff operates more than 40 locally managed and delivered programs.Services include food and shelter, counseling, independent living and parenting skills, substance-abuse treatment and rehabilitation, and job training. Currently, VOA NCNN provides shelter or housing to over 3,500 men, women, and children every night.

Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for accounts payable and other assigned accounting functions as needed. Work is completed in an accurate, detailed, timely, and professional manner in compliance with accounting regulations and department standards.Work is also performed in a cost-effective and service-oriented way as it relates to established organizational standards. Objectives include supportive interaction with program directors, staff, and outside service/product providers.
OBJECTIVES/ACTIVITIES:
- Accounts Payable Processing
- Accurately enter payables and process payments, ensuring all documentation is attached and approved.
- Manage vendors, process online payments, address inquiries.
- Manage W9 and 1099 documents.
- Process employee expense reimbursements timely.
- General Ledger
- Work with Staff Accountants on expense reclassifications.
- Reconcile vendor statements and address inquiries.
- Reporting and Support
- Scan and maintain retention documentation, timely.
- Work with Program Directors on Expenses, Coding, etc.
- Serve as the back up to Accounts Payable Coordinator.
- Assist with annual 1099 preparation.
- Other
- Provide audit support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assemble overnight shipments, UPS, FedEx, Mailings, etc.
Qualifications:
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate Degree in Accounting or related area and/or five years of experience in accounting. Good organizational skills, good math skills and filing skills is required. Ability to operate a 10-key calculator, computer keyboard and basic computer programs.Maintain a working familiarity with Excel, as demonstrated by the ability to create and manage spreadsheet workbooks. Have a basic understanding of bookkeeping procedures and processes. Must be familiar with computer program operations and can reconcile input and output of computer data.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet our insurance carrier’s guidelines are required.

Pay Range: USD $30.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
