About The Function:

Our client, a growing privately owned construction materials distribution and remanufacturing company located in Bucks County PA is looking for a Corporate Controller. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Corporate Controller will oversee the financial activities over multiple entities located locally and in the Mid Atlantic Region.These entities remanufacture and sell to various industries on the East Coast and as far west as Illinois and Texas.
This family owned 2nd generation privately owned company has a decades long history with many tenured employees who stay for 20, 30 and 40 years of service. Controller Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily financial operations of the Company that includes; general accounting, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, payroll and invoicing, financial reporting.
- Maintain and improve the company’s system of internal controls and accounting procedures. Develop, update, and maintain an accounting procedures manual that documents accounting, reporting and internal control processes.
- Oversee, manage and improve the monthly accounting close process for the different entities with a goal being to have the close completed by the 8th day of the following month. This includes:
- Setting, maintaining and following monthly closing schedule.
- Work with the staff accountant to ensure all entries are made and all reconciliations are done timely.
- Analyze account balances to understand balance and correct any errors.
- Review and explain actual to budget variances.
- Complete and distribute the monthly reporting packages for the entities. On a quarterly basis provide Consolidated Financial Statements for each entity. Work with the CFO and staff accountant on improvements to the reporting package to provide better information for decision making.
- Oversee weekly reporting for the entities. This includes but not limited to: Sales Reports and Cash Reports. Work with the CFO and staff accountant on improvements to weekly reports to provide better information for decision making.
- Prepare quarterly bank reporting packages.
- Ensure sales tax compliance.
- Work with the auditors to complete the yearly audit and the yearly review.
- Working with the CFO, provide the necessary information to the external tax accountants for all corporate entities.
- Work with Epicor to maintain and improve financial systems which includes; MS GP, their industry ERP System etc. Evaluate features and functions of current accounting system and assess the need to implement new or under-utilized modules.
- Team with CFO on preparing Annual Budget and Forecasts.
- Team with CFO in working with external IT consultants to ensure all employees can efficiently and effectively work in the office or remotely. Assist in the management of the phone system.
- Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Work Location and Hours
The Controller role is a full time position located on site in Bucks County, PA. Hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm but vary depending on workloads and responsibilities that need to be accomplished.
Controller Qualifications / Skills:
- Managing processes to deliver results for companies.
- History of working with Accounting and ERP Software.
- Experience with data cubes and report writing packages a plus.
- Auditing, accounting, and corporate finance experience.
- Financial skills that include Analyzing information and developing budgets and forecasts.
- Performance management experience.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance
- Experience with preparing US GAAP financial statements
