Building Laser Scan Specialist
Overview:
We are looking for an energetic, technically savvy person to join our team of Reality Capture Specialists to assist with laser measuring (scanning) building interiors and exteriors. In this role you will travel to various project locations throughout the US to scan buildings and then return to the office to process the scans into point cloud and create orthographic image files.
We are looking for someone who already has experience with lidar based laser scanning (including operating SLAM devices) and point cloud assembly/registration, but would consider. Most projects are based in Boston so priority will be given to candidates in that region, but we will consider candidates within continental US.

Responsibilities:
- Travel to job sites at various locations throughout US. Anticipate 50% (every other week) travel minimum with remainder of time work from home or local NV5 office.
- Operating various laser scanning equipment to measure spaces.
- Operating laser scan registration software to assemble point clouds and extract imagery.
- Revit Modeling is not a requirement, but preference will be given to candidates who already have experience with building complete Revit models from point clouds and other documentation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management a or STEM based program.
- Experience/Technical Skills
- Experience with Stationary Tripod & SLAM Laser Scanners
- Experience with assembling scans into point clouds
- Experience with extracting image from point cloud software
- Proficiency with CAD and BIM Software
- Independent & Self Reliant: Ability to travel and work independently and adapt to various field conditions to ensure deliverables and schedules are met.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Transportation: Must have your own vehicle and driver’s license. Travel expenses beyond regular commuting will be reimbursed.
