Part-Time Grant Accountant

We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for a Part-Time Grant Accountant in San Rafael, California, in the non-profit industry. This role will involve maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring proper grant/project coding, and supporting development staff in tracking grant expenses.

• Oversee the general ledger and ensure it is maintained accurately.
• Handle the entry and payment of vendor invoices, ensuring proper GL coding, approvals, and supporting documentation to comply with grant requirements.
• Keep records of all revenue, expenses, deposits, and ensure proper grant/project coding.
• Perform monthly close activities, bank reconciliations, and run monthly financial reports.
• Assemble and submit Accounts Receivable invoices to grantors on a monthly basis.
• Work closely with the Board Treasurer to compile and review financial statements and reports for monthly board meetings.
• Support Development staff in tracking grant expenses, remaining balances, and creating financial reports as needed.
• Execute year-end close activities and distribute annual 1099’s.
• Collaborate with an outside audit firm for annual audit and Form 990 filing.
• Maintain electronic files in anticipation of regular audits.
• Perform other duties as assigned. • Proficiency in accounting functions
• Experience with budget processes
• Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Ability to use Quickbooks Online
• Expertise in grant accounting, especially with Federal Grants
• Skills in account reconciliation
• Experience with journal entries
• Knowledge in bank reconciliations
• Part-time availability required.
