Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Responsibilities:
- Researches, writes, edits and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications
- Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
- Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations
- Retrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information
- Creates or revises hardware or software product documentation, which includes installation, operation and maintenance instructions and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notes
- Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree OR 2 years of applicable experience required
