Connecticut State Community College (CT State) seeks confidential applications, nominations for the Vice Provost for Student Affairs position. The Vice Provost for Student Affairs (VPSA) is the deputy chief student affairs officer for the statewide, CT State and reports directly to the Provost, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Workforce Innovation.The Vice Provost serves as a senior member of the Provost’s Leadership Council and is a member of the President’s Leadership Council. The Vice Provost provides leadership to all student affairs areas, so they reflect the mission of the institution.
The Vice Provost is an advocate for all student programs, providing leadership to staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs that meet the needs of students. The Vice Provost is a key leader in a complex organization; the largest higher education institution in New England, serving over 60,000 students.
Connecticut State Community College was established on July 1, 2023, following a strategic decision by the Board of Regents to unify the state’s 12 community colleges into a single, student-centered institution. Today, CT State is Connecticut’s largest higher education institution and the largest community college in New England, serving more than 65,000 students through credit-bearing and non-credit programs across 12 campuses and more than 18 additional locations.This unification has expanded access to high-quality, affordable education while enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening long-term financial sustainability.
More than just a structural transformation, CT State’s unification under a single accreditation represents a commitment to equity, innovation, and student success—ensuring that every learner has the resources and opportunities to thrive. CT State is a member of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system, which includes four state universities, a fully online college, and CT State Community College.The system is governed by the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education.
In November 2024, the college announced a reorganization of the Provost’s Office, creating two new positions: Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Vice Provost for Student Affairs. Additionally, the six academic schools will consolidate into four by Fall 2025:
- Nursing, Allied Health, and Human Services
- Liberal Arts and Education
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
- Business and Professional Studies
CT State offers more than 300 associate degrees and credit certificates and 121 workforce programs. CT State is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). CT State seeks full accreditation as a singly accredited college by 2028.
