About Us

Mighty Fine Apps is a fast-growing company dedicated to creating innovative apps that empower the deaf and hard of hearing community. Our flagship product, Live Transcribe, provides real-time transcription services that transform lives. We’re embarking on a green field project to build a new backend and account system, and to bring many frequently requested features to life.

Position Overview

While strong backend skills are essential, experience in iOS or front-end web development is a bonus. We’re partial to Node.js and Express, but we’re open to other proven backend technologies if you can demonstrate excellence and leadership in the field.

Requirements

• Backend System Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and RESTful APIs, including high-throughput websocket endpoints.
• Green Field Project Leadership: Take ownership of developing a new backend and account system that supports key features and enhances user experience.
• Integration & Collaboration: Work closely with mobile and web developers, product teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with client-facing applications.
• Cloud & Infrastructure Management: Oversee deployment, monitoring, and scaling of backend services on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or comparable alternatives).
• Quality & Best Practices: Implement robust testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices to maintain a high standard of code quality.
• Innovation & Problem Solving: Gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and iterate on solutions in a dynamic, agile environment.

• Backend Expertise: 5+ years of experience in backend development with a proven track record in building scalable APIs and systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with Node.js and Express (or equivalent backend frameworks); deep understanding of RESTful API design.
• Database Knowledge: Solid experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and strong database design principles.
• Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud-based deployment, monitoring, and scaling solutions (AWS preferred, or similar platforms).
• Remote Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote, distributed team.
• Bonus Skills:
• Experience in iOS development (Swift, SwiftUI, etc.) is a major plus.
• Front-end web development experience is also beneficial.
