Field Commissioning Engineer

Upon the completion of the mechanical erection and electrical interconnect tasks provided by authorized third party subcontractors, the Field Commissioning Engineer will complete the Rapiscan Cargo X-ray inspection system installations by first verifying that the work performed meets documented engineering, quality and workmanship standards.Following the inspection, verification and any follow-on corrections or rework, the Cargo Systems Field Commissioning Engineer will complete all of the remaining tasks associated with system start-up, testing, tuning, debugging, system calibration, system performance verification, the acceptance test plan, radiation survey, customer acceptance and hand-off and the Field Service hand-off.
Responsibilities:
- Primary Objective: to conduct all “start-up” duties of a recently installed large scale, electro-mechanical x-ray Cargo & POV (Privately Owned Vehicle) Inspection system to functionally operate per contract specifications and to perform the acceptance testing of the system to customer requirements.
- Provide a quality inspection sheet and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) to the Program Management Cargo Systems Field Installation Manager of the work performed by the authorized third-party subcontractors as an initial step to ensuring quality of services.
- Provide a detailed written summary and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) to the Program Management Cargo Systems Field Installation Manager of any system performance issues so that any defects uncovered prior to customer acceptance can be immediately addressed and brought to resolution.
- Perform site inspections, completion of site readiness checklists, and verification of drawings prior to the deployment of the Commissioning Engineering team to ensure site readiness and conformance to requirements.
- Plan and arrange travel and accommodations and submit expense reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
- Associate degree in an Electro-Mechanical discipline or equivalent work experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in an Electro-Mechanical discipline is a plus.
- Successful completion of the Department of Homeland Security background screen.
- Experience with managing and directing complex capital equipment installation and commissioning teams is a plus.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with reading and following procedures, engineered drawings, electrical schematics and interconnect drawings.
- Familiar with AutoCAD and / or Solidworks software and Agile (or equivalent database systems) for searching for documentation and pertinent software and PLC code versions to support daily activities.
- Comfortable identifying, testing, troubleshooting, and correcting Electro-Mechanical issues and system performance independently. Additionally requires working closely with team members, home office engineering staff, third-party contractors or others, to correct and resolve any issues observed with system start up.
- Experience with X-ray inspection system operating software and software updates performed in the field is a plus.
- Position requires a combined 50%-75% domestic (USA) and international travel (Mexico, Middle East).
- This position will require working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass company background, Department of Homeland Security backgroud, driving, credit checks and drug screens, and maintain in good standing.
