E-commerce Product Evaluation Specialist

Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with the processing functions of our online retail business by evaluating and posting various merchandise for sale on Shopgoodwill.com, eBay.com, and other auction-oriented sites. Merchandise will include, but will not be limited to, clothing, jewelry, and art.

Specializing in proper identification of artists, designers, mediums, materials, and metals associated with each category. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Researches merchandise using the internet, published guidelines and consultation with experts, research potential merchandise to be placed online for sale, determining information such as the type and function of the item, fair market value, eligibility for vintage/antique status, brand, potential buyers, whether the item is genuine, and other details in order to make an educated assessment as to the item’s salability on our online markets.
  2. Takes clear and accurate photographs of the item, in such detail and number to provide the potential customer with enough information about the item’s appearance, condition, size, color, shape, composition, brand, model, size, and other descriptive detail.
  3. Write persuasive sales copy about the item, providing enough detail to help the customer determine appearance, condition, size, material, weight, color, shape, brand, model, size, and other factors.
  4. Meets or exceeds posting quotas.
  5. Measure and weigh items accurately, inclusive of packaging.
  6. Post items for sale on eBay, Shopgoodwill.com, and other markets as needed.
  7. Retrieve merchandise from shelves, place merchandise into appropriate packaging, affix shipping labels, and stage merchandise in preparation for shipping.
  8. Keep accurate records, using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software, of items posted, sold, sales price, inventory, origin and destination.
  9. Provide excellent customer service by responding to phone and email inquiries from customers in a timely, polite and professional manner, as well as support customer during onsite pickup of purchased items.
  10. Safely operate warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, forklifts, etc., to move merchandise through the warehouse.
  11. Remove merchandise from containers and sort, as needed.
  12. Coordinate and communicate with store Ecommerce representatives as necessary regarding items sent from that store.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a quick work pace in order to adhere to posting quotas
  2. Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to Goodwill uniform standards.
  3. Assist with warehouse logistics as assigned.
  4. Assist with eBooks department as needed
  5. Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or GED or 4 years ‘experience in the fields of antiques, collectables, and/or education in art history or ecommerce or like field.
  2. Similar experience selling antiques, collectables, and fine art.
  3. Self-starter and quick leaner.
  4. Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  5. Excellent written English skills, with the ability to write descriptive summarizations of items to be posted online.
  6. Ability to conduct reliable research using the internet.
  7. Extremely detailed oriented.
  8. Familiarity with basic photographic principles so as to operate a mid-level digital camera, including the ability to upload pictures to a computer.
  9. Responsible, reliable and extremely organized.
  10. Ability to complete all assigned tasks quickly, and in an efficient manner, adhering to departmental quotas.
  11. Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
  12. Ability to lift merchandise up to thirty pounds in weight.
  13. Ability to push and/or pull merchandise up to 200 lbs using warehouse equipment.
  14. Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to various temperature extremes (hot in summer, cold in winter), moderate dust and noise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous work experience in a retail environment.
  2. Microsoft Office proficient and Internet savvy.
  3. Reliable transportation in order to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  4. High School diploma or GED.
