Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently seeking engineering interns to work in our Waterway Structures group in Binghamton, NY! Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects to engage motivated engineers who enjoy working on a variety of projects on or near the water.
We have openings for interns with an interest and background in the following concentrations – structural, hydraulics and hydrology, civil, geotechnical, and dam safety. Our projects are unique designs and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged.

Our upcoming project portfolio includes jobs on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.

Whether designing a new water control structure, upgrading a hydropower dam, or assessing the safety of a dam or levee, joining the Colliers Engineering & Design Team will accelerate YOUR success!

Responsibilities:

  • Our interns will assist technical staff on day-to-day projects in their respective disciplines.
  • Our work consists of a wide variety of projects in and near the water such as levees, dams, locks, mooring structures, canals, hydroelectric power facilities and similar project types.
  • Depending on interest and experience, work could include:
  • Hydraulic modeling.
  • Structural analysis.
  • Geotechnical engineering.
  • Field work like dam and levee inspections.
  • Something different every day!
  • Our internships are unique in that they are work-centered, meaning you are working on real, billable client work right away.
  • This is a great way to gain real life experience in consulting.
  • In addition to the work-centered program, we also offer robust internship programming, which includes opportunities to work with other interns, learn about other areas of the business, and develop valuable communication skills and networking connections.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related program.
  • Senior standing (going into Senior year) preferred.
  • Ability to think outside the box and strong desire to learn.
  • Interest in project work in or near the water.
  • Desire to learn from other experts as well as from self-study.
  • CAD skills are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Compensation: $15-25/HR. DOQ.

Our internship program is designed to help grow our organization organically with talented individuals starting their careers all over the country. On average, we make full-time, permanent offers to students approaching graduation within a year more than 50% of the time.
