Orbital Welder
WELDER -- ORBITAL-Ability to perform orbital welding of tubing and components.-Perform Layout and Fit-up of Pipe and Structure.-With regard to the portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications and plan, lay-out, install and/or repair all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products in accordance with those plans and specifications.-Self-starter to carry out welding procedures.-Read and understand plans and specifications, including isometric and orthographic drawings.
Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.-Responsible for preparing and completing required documents on a daily or as needed basis. -Inspect subordinate"s work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain, and take any corrective action needed.-Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, weld and install all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products; install supports, values and other control equipment; test installed piping system and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications; bolts, clamp or weld parts to secure in position for welding; weld components according to specific process and code.-Install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.-Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.-Creates and logs weld coupons.-TIG Welding / Fabrication of custom chambers and / or components using customer supplied drawings and / or blueprints while holding tolerances of /+/-.010 and / or .5% angular.-Must be able to meet or exceed the requirement of the project through manual fabrication such as port alignment, scribing, cutting/coping tacking, turning and welding while maintaining angular tolerance"s of +/- ½ %, focal lengths and target points of +/- .010; closely collaborate with machinists throughout the manufacturing process for each phase of the project.-Weld different types of metals (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel) of varying thickness.-Must be familiar with metallurgy, primarily stainless steel.-Clean welds and check for any inconsistencies.-Must know the proper weld settings for welding various materials along with filler rod selection.-Must be able to produce vacuum tight welds.-Follow established job-site and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.-Can qualify for ASME Code (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) welding as required.
