CTG is seeking to fill a Business Systems Analyst V opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid remote, ability to work on-site a minimum of 3 times a week)

Duration: 12 months

Overview:
The Business Systems Analyst V is responsible for facilitating complex projects from proposal through post-implementation. This role involves meeting with lines of business to identify their requirements for how an application should function and look from an end-user perspective.

As the project lead, you will ensure that test plans and specifications are completed on schedule, while meeting established milestones. Within 18 months of being assigned, the role is expected to have Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in assigned systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare well-documented functional specifications, test plans, and test cases.
  • Execute test cases and conduct research analysis to ensure accurate functional design.
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced staff, offering guidance in application training, research analysis, and project methodology.
  • Take on the role of functional lead for complex projects, managing meetings, and documenting meeting minutes.
  • Meet with business clients to discuss application changes related to enterprise-wide or business initiatives, regulatory compliance, contractual agreements, or system maintenance (BAU).
  • Document and deliver functional specifications based on design discussions.
  • Collaborate with lines of business to gather requirements for user-facing applications and provide feedback on those requirements to ensure the technology supports customer needs.
  • Work closely with the technology team to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Provide project estimates, timelines, and phase breakdowns for large projects.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for enterprise-wide initiatives, including acquisitions or product/service changes.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technical teams to understand project functionality and implementation.
  • Serve as Test Coordinator for large initiatives involving multiple applications.
  • Participate in data mapping and integration activities related to system changes, acquisitions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and/or execute test cases, ensuring functionality meets specifications.
  • Ensure that functional specifications and change requests stay within project scope and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure issues, incidents, and questions are documented and resolved efficiently.
  • Coordinate post-implementation activities, including gathering feedback, issue resolution, and project debriefs.
  • Adhere to the company's risk and regulatory standards and escalate risk-related issues when necessary.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards and complete audit points in a timely manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing and implementing complex business system requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate various projects while managing client and business expectations.
  • Ensure successful execution of projects while remaining within scope, timelines, and budgets.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Mentors and provides guidance to junior team members.
  • May coordinate project team members across different functions.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 6 years combined higher education and/or operational/business analytics experience.
  • Strong experience with Business Systems Analysis (BSA).
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in an environment with undefined processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, lateral thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent software applications.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Subject matter expertise in the business or systems supported.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with complex projects involving system integrations.
  • Strong understanding of project management tools and software applications.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
  • Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and proactive approach.
  • Experience with Bank acquisition methodology or relevant conversion experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
