Hardware Development Engineer, Ring Hardware

Ring is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to help accelerate hardware development of high quality products. The candidate will support electrical engineering design and validation on new products as well as develop solutions for production phase products.

Key job responsibilities
  • Perform schematic design and PCBA layout
  • Work with Mechanical Engineers to integrate electrical assemblies into industrial design
  • Identify and test key electrical components
  • Work with Quality Engineers to scope validation testing and debug issues
  • Create and maintain design documentation including schematics, PCB layout files and bills of materials
  • Assist in prototype and test fixture development
  • Work with Firmware Engineers to bring up new hardware and debug designs
  • Conduct field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production phase products

A day in the life

As a Hardware Development Engineer you will work with a cross-functional team to develop and design innovative consumer products for the Ring and Blink brand. You will work closely with internal team members and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and testing.

About the team

The Ring Solutions Hardware team (AKA: The Forge) is responsible for electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering activities for all Blink, Ring Alarm, and Ring Smart Lighting products. Our team is made up of talented EEs, MEs, and test engineers dedicated to delivering exceptional products, quickly and economically.- 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of schematic design and debug skills
  • Experience working in Altium or similar eCAD tools
  • Able to operate basic lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies
  • Experience building and troubleshooting electronics assemblies
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics and engineering specifications
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail- Familiarity with embedded systems and/or wireless technology
  • Experience designing hardware products
  • Experience designing and testing to industry standards including FCC, UL, IEC, etc.
  • Strong understanding of analog, digital and high-speed circuit design
  • Capable of soldering and reworking electronic assemblies including all types of SMT components
