Job Title: MRI Technologist

Location: New York, NY 10003

Schedule:

  • Part-time (27 hours per week)
  • 13.5-hour shifts, 2 days per week
  • Weekend schedule: Saturday (8:00 AM - 10:00 PM) & Sunday (8:00 AM - 10:00 PM)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a certified MRI Technologist to perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The ideal candidate will have experience operating MRI equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver accurate diagnostic imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform MRI imaging procedures using specialized equipment.
  2. Assist, prepare, and position patients to ensure quality imaging and comfort.
  3. Apply technical judgment to produce high-quality diagnostic images per established protocols.
  4. Educate patients on procedures, expected outcomes, and safety precautions.
  5. Review patient safety questionnaires and enforce MRI safety protocols before scanning.
  6. Ensure proper clearance of patients before transitioning from Zone 2 to Zone 3.
  7. Assist in administering contrast media under aseptic technique, including power injector operation.
  8. Properly position patients and coils to achieve optimal image quality.
  9. Scan and document patient-related records efficiently.
  10. Ensure all images are labeled accurately according to department SOPs.
  11. Assist physicians during imaging procedures as needed.
  12. Evaluate radiographs for technical accuracy and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
  13. Maintain MRI room cleanliness and proper handling of soiled linens.
  14. Keep imaging room stocked with necessary supplies and accessories.
  15. Accurately enter and track patient information in IDX Radiology Information System.
  16. Schedule and complete imaging studies in IDX in a timely manner.
  17. Report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  18. Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  19. Attend in-service training and professional development meetings as required.
  20. Maintain active licensure and compliance with Article 35 of the Public Health Code.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Licensure:

  • New York State License (L.R.T.)
  • New York State IV Certification (for contrast administration)

Certifications:

  • ARRT (MRI) Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Certified

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Epic Radiant and the employer’s MRI platform (preferred but not required).
