Manufacturing Engineer Functional Test

General Summary:
This position serves to develop test procedures, planning, tooling and equipment necessary to functional test all aircraft systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports work specific to detail parts manufacturing and assembly operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Develops documentation and procedures to ensure compliance specific to customer, and regulatory production requirements and specifications, and solutions for production problems relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or the right tooling.
- Interprets engineering drawings to determine requirements meet manufacturing objectives.
- Acts as liaison between design engineering, tooling department, machine shop, Quality and Production.
- Analyzes statistical data including process capability studies, tests capability studies, and through-put rates; Provides technical support and assistance with the development and improvement of methods, quality product design, cost, and technical issues.
- Plans and documents various functional test processes, tooling, equipment and quality control methods to optimize the functional test operations; Ensures completed tasks have been performed and inspected in accordance with HACI standards. Identifies and corrects assigned production and manufacturing issues.
- Prepares and updates production functional test planning; to include BOM configuration and control.
- Prepares and submits tooling requests and tooling discrepancy reports; Details and assembles methods planning and tool manufacturing planning.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineer or other related field experience strongly preferred
- Six Sigma training preferred
- Strong working knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawing and specification requirements required
- Strong working knowledge with SAP, CAD CAM, Catia, Microsoft Office suites required
- Aviation Experience Required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand wiring drawings.
- Strong skills in mechanical and airframe and power plant technical support including installation, repair, and fabrication support.
- Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in mechanical repair and fabrication situations and in addressing engineers and their design and modification needs.
- Strong knowledge of glass cockpit mechanical systems; troubleshooting; ringing out; wiring diagrams; wiring needs; and wiring practices, mods, and terminations.
- Ability to interface with internal engineering support and outside suppliers and vendors and project a good professional image.
- Must have good prioritizing skills and strong team skills.
- Must be willing to travel as needed and be able to be flexible and to change direction rapidly as situations change.
- Flexibility to various schedules and overtime.
Physical Requirements:
- Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
- Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
- Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
- Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
- Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
- Effectively communicate in Business English language.
- Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
- Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided "reach assistance technology" or "movement assist technology" (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
- Ability to work tight space, high place and outside environment.
