About the Role:
We are offering an exciting hybrid opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer in the power and energy sector. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of critical infrastructure, specifically focusing on structural components for high-voltage substations.As a Senior Engineer, you will design, analyze, and oversee the construction of substations, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver innovative and reliable structural solutions. This role also offers leadership opportunities, where you will mentor junior engineers and manage key aspects of substation design projects.
The hybrid nature of this position allows for flexibility, with remote work options complemented by on-site activities when needed. Occasional travel for site visits, inspections, and client meetings will be required, providing a dynamic mix of office, remote, and fieldwork experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural components for high-voltage substations, including steel structures and concrete foundations.
- Develop structural calculations and ensure all designs meet industry standards, building codes, and client specifications.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and drafters to ensure seamless integration of structural designs.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) reviews to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability in all designs.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and skill development.
- Lead and coordinate structural engineering tasks across multiple substation design projects.
- Prepare detailed technical specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates for structural components.
- Develop and review structural deliverables, such as drawings, calculations, and material specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with client standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural and substation engineering.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, including technical input, cost estimates, and feasibility analyses.
- Assist in project reporting, providing status updates, and maintaining clear communication with clients.
- Conduct site visits to support planning, construction, and troubleshooting as necessary.
- Participate in client meetings and site inspections as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BSCE) or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on substation or utility projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
- Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as Risa3D, STAAD Pro, or equivalent software.
- Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with U.S. building codes and industry standards related to structural and substation engineering.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
