Who We Are: The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

This position is with the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) area of DTMB.

About The Position: Provide complete customer service to Office of Retirement Service (ORS) customers by accurately responding to customer inquiries received via phone calls in a call center environment, request forms, application documents, written correspondence or by personal visit to our office.

Determine customer eligibility for billings, pension, health and death benefits. Provide pension/survivor estimates and process/authorize benefits and enrollment information for our customers.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician E9

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
