Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Functions as a recognized expert, providing authoritative professional guidance to staff within a specific area of service. Personally attends to the most difficult, complex or unusual cases and will develop and conduct specialized education/public information classes in this specialty.In addition, assumes immediate responsibility for the clinical investigation of new drugs in the specialty. Will also perform the day-to-day responsibilities of drug distribution, processing, and therapeutic intervention as needed, The Specialist will undertake tasks and projects to improve therapeutic and financial outcomes.
The position is required to rotate through the pharmacy on-call schedule in area of responsibility. Incumbent will lecture two times per year to other medical professionals and be published at least one time every three years in a medical journal.
May be a co-principal investigator on patient clinical research, or an investigator on Pharmacy practice research. Also, will be assigned to precept pharmacy residents, students, technicians, and interns as required by supervisor. This position is a Direct Care Provider as defined in Pharmacy Policy.
In this role, knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations is required.

Required Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate customer service and teamwork skills appropriate to the job
- Minimum five years of experience as a licensed pharmacist, OR two years’ experience & completion of a PGY-1 Residency OR completion of a PGY-1 and a PGY2
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience providing oversight, training, and development for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
- Demonstrated experience monitoring quality and efficiency utilizing metrics
- Demonstrated experience developing efficient workflows, programs, policies and standard operating procedures
- Current BLS or ACLS certification
- CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing
- Ability to perform job duties independently and in compliance with requirements of licensure
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Pharmacist(Required)
- Effective presentation skills
- Completion of a PGY-2, Board Certification, or Advanced Practice Licensure
- An advanced administrative degree (M.S., M.H.A., M.P.H., M.B.A.)
