Job Summary:

As the Lead Technician, you will oversee and execute fiber-optic installation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality. You will be responsible for guiding a team of technicians, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining compliance with all industry and company safety regulations.

This role requires a combination of hands-on technical work, leadership, and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

Ensure all installations adhere to OSHA safety standards, company protocols, and industry best practices.

Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazard prevention measures.

Identify and mitigate risks on-site, maintaining a proactive approach to workplace safety.

Train and mentor technicians in safe work practices and emergency procedures.

Quality Assurance & Technical Expertise

Lead fiber-optic installations, including aerial, underground, and in-home setups, ensuring top-tier craftsmanship.

Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics for fiber-optic network issues, using appropriate tools and methodologies.

Conduct quality checks and ensure all installations meet company specifications, minimizing service disruptions.

Collaborate with engineering and network teams to resolve complex technical challenges and optimize service reliability.

Maintain a working knowledge of emerging technologies and industry advancements.

Customer Service & Professionalism

Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during installations, ensuring a seamless and positive experience.

Educate customers on their new fiber services, equipment usage, and troubleshooting basics.

Address customer concerns with professionalism and provide effective solutions.

Uphold company values of integrity, respect, and transparency in all customer interactions.

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise, train, and mentor a team of technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Provide performance feedback and support skill development initiatives.

Coordinate daily assignments, ensuring efficient scheduling and task completion.

Lead by example, demonstrating technical expertise, professionalism, and strong work ethic.

Operational Efficiency & Reporting

Ensure all job documentation is accurate and complete, including service records, inventory usage, and job reports.

Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, and fellow technicians to streamline workflows.

Assist in inventory management, ensuring necessary tools and materials are available for installations.

Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

Experience in fiber-optic or telecommunications installation.

Experience leading teams or mentoring junior technicians.

Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with industry regulations.

Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Ability to work the schedule of Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Preferred:

Certifications in fiber-optic installation.

Experience with aerial and underground fiber placement.

Familiarity with GIS mapping, RF signal testing, and network diagnostics.

Previous experience in a leadership or training role.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
