Job Summary
The District Sales Manager role is responsible for building market position by defending, locating, developing, defining, negotiating, closing, and maintaining business relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains and defends current business sales, margin and volume
- Voice of Customer – Product performance reports as per customer and Minteq requirements
- Manage field trials of new and experimental products or projects. Obtains, plans, coordinates and supervises new product trials and growth opportunities within new and existing accounts. Design follow up systems for trial products and report results to the customer and MINTEQ managers with clear understanding of value generation for MINTEQ and customer. Coordinate equipment and manpower as required.
- Provides weekly & monthly sales forecast / plan to management & finance:
- Generate monthly forecast
- Weekly commentary of actual sales versus forecast
- Generate annual sales plan
- Gain comprehensive understanding of complete product portfolio:
- refractory, wire, equipment, laser measurement
- Promotes new product offerings and substitutions to improve margins and/or improve performance.
- Responsible for Margin, Sales and Volume in account responsibilities
- Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners, discovering and exploring opportunities.
- Develops close working relationship with entire customer base and MINTEQ departments (manufacturing, SMS field service, customer service, R&D, QC, finance & accounting, accounts receivable ), and fully understanding their requirements
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Demonstrates the MTI Values and Transformational Rules for Leaders, as well as the Key Initiative areas of Safety/EHS, Operational Excellence, Expense Reduction and Technology & Innovation.

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or related field or a minimum of five years experience in refractory sales or industrial manufacturing (preferably steelmaking). Prior experience supervising a work group. Significant knowledge and experience in sales and marketing, customer service, and business acumen.
Skills & Abilitiies:
- Demonstration of good leadership, account management, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment and understand different roles depending on the function of the team. Physical & Mental:
- Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, climbing steps, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment. Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress. Must wear safety equipment where required.
General: Travel is required.
