Project Engineer
Coordinates with Sales and Marketing, Engineering, and Operations personnel to translate the customer's requirements into safe, reliable, cost-effective, and producible products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES-Develop technical sketches or 3D CAD models to communicate complex design concepts.-Apply engineering principles and research to design of innovative new products that meet established performance parameters and cost targets, and designed for manufacture and assembly.-Design, fabricate, and evaluate/ test prototype designs.Prepare test plans and reports for engineering testing performed.-Define, develop, and prepare detailed engineering documentation. Assign, oversee, and coordinate personnel engaged in the preparation of engineering documentation.-Evaluate and recommend improvements to current design and manufacturing practices/ processes.-Plan, manage, coordinate, and prioritize own daily work/ tasks/ projects, and external sub-contractors/ suppliers as required.-Direct internal and external team members on project related tasks.-Prepare and/or support the preparation of project schedules (using MS Project).

Assume responsibility for executing to established project budgets.-Assist in the development of engineering department and company-wide standard practices and procedures as requested.-Serve as the technical liaison between internal personnel and external customer/suppliers, etc.as required.-Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established company ISO 9001/AS9100 (QMS) procedures and work instructions.-Analyze customer requirements, produce certain technical analyses, and prepare product design proposals for potential new development projects.-Prepare and present presentations for internal and external product design reviews and meetings.-Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing as requested.-Assemble prototype parts using basic assembly hand tools.-Evaluate and recommend solutions to product issues identified by customers.-Provide support to Operations and Quality to resolve in-house production issues and external supplier issues relating to product performance and quality attainment.-Complete other duties as directed by Management.-Support the identification, design, build, or acquisition, and the validation of production tooling, templates, assembly tools, and fixtures as required.-Support the identification, design, build, or acquisition, and the validation of test fixtures.-Support the preparation of qualification documentation.-Prepare Design Failure Mode Effects Analyses (DFMEAs), and support the preparation of Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEAs).-Support Quality in the preparation of Acceptance Test Plans/ Procedures/ Checklists.-Support Manufacturing in the preparation of Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEAs).-Support the development of requirements (product specifications) for new product applications using input from Sales and Marketing and through direct customer discussions.-Prepare, oversee, and review preliminary stress calculations and tolerance studies.-Keeps abreast of new technology advancements and developments within the aerospace industry or allied industries to ensure that company products continue to advance the state-of-the art.-Assist less experienced engineers by reviewing product designs and providing constructive feedback in an effort to identify and mitigate product/ program risks, ensure customer requirements are being met, and increase 'first-pass yield' during product qualification.-Be a strong advocate for and actively foster cross-functional teamwork (concurrent engineering) within the company.
