ITOCHU Building Products (IBP) Holdings has an immediate need for a Sr. Payroll Specialist. ITOCHU Building Products is the largest and leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of fencing products in North America. The company is comprised of Master Halco, Alta Forest Products, Daiken North America, and US Premier Tube Mills.

Based in Dallas, TX and reporting directly to the Sr Payroll HRIS Manager, we are seeking an experienced Sr Payroll Specialist who will handle all aspects of the payroll function (both US and Canada) while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, full compliance, and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the processing of multi-company, multi-state payroll, including the set-up of new states and associated tax jurisdictions as needed
  • Understand end-to-end functional processes and how they integrate with the payroll processes
  • Process timely stop payments, bank deletes, reversals, and re-issues to employees appropriately
  • Identify and communicate process improvements as identified in the normal performance of daily functional activities.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations requires a review of identifiable factors
  • Work to support the team to improve the business through technology enhancements, standardization, and simplified processes
  • Write, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data
  • Produce accurate and effective information using simple queries and reporting tools (e.g., minimal table joins, and conditional clauses needed). Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for exceptions to the normal payroll process (e.g., new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations)
  • Manage and process commissions, bonuses, and incentive calculations/payouts for all employees
  • Upload external vendor files for bi-weekly payrolls
  • Communicate payroll policies and procedures to management and employees
  • Maintain and update the ADP Workforce Now database and provide reports as needed
  • Assist with various payroll-related tasks as needed, including, but not limited to, processing tax and unemployment issues, assisting with quarterly and year end reporting, etc

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years payroll experience, verified through progressive growth in a multi-state/global payroll function
  • Experience in HRIS and Timekeeping system applications
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions and integrating existing businesses processes into a parent/holding company
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office, Excel must be intermediate to advanced level.
  • Advanced proven experience of payroll tax and garnishment law at the federal, state and local levels, as well as advanced knowledge of US payroll practices
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Advanced training and experience in SQL reporting tools preferred
  • Ability to research, analyze and retrieve data and answer employee inquires
  • General understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements governing functional tasks and activities. SOX Compliance
  • Strong customer service, organizational, time management and communication skills (written & oral)
