Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Program Capability Developer (Geospatial Specialist III) to join our dynamic Department of the Air Force (DAF) GeoBase Operations team based in San Antonio, Texas.

This is an on-site role with a schedule of 4 days working at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) on Lackland Air Force Base and 1 day working remotely. This position reports to the GeoBase Operations Team Leader and is responsible for providing onsite remote pilot expertise, all aspects of ground and airborne safety, all regulatory and certification compliance, and interagency coordination for flight mission planning.

Responsibilities

As a sUAS Program Capability Developer (Geospatial Specialist III) at Woolpert, you will:

  • Provide onsite remote pilot expertise in daily flight operations and mission planning
  • Occasional domestic or international flight mission travel assignments to client locations may be required
  • Ensure safe flying environment by adhering to all directives, regulations and procedures
  • Advise and assist the client on all matters pertaining to sUAS operations, technology, data collection, and current and future capabilities
  • Monitor and maintain pilot and program certifications
  • Coordinate with personnel for aircraft maintenance, to address aircraft or operational problems, and to diagnose malfunctions or flight mission shortfalls
  • Develop expertise on USAF Manuals and DoD Instructions, providing advice and assistance on the application and interpretation of policy, technical orders, engineering change proposals and other related technical publications
  • Translate mission data elements clearly and concisely into monthly client reporting formats, as well as any local civil authority reporting requirements
  • Process and analyze sUAS mission-collected geospatial raster and vector data

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • US citizenship
  • Active Tier 1 (National Agency Check and Inquiries) investigation, security clearance, or the ability to pass a Tier 1 NACI investigation
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment background verification and drug screening
  • Current FAA, Part 107 sUAS Remote Pilot certification
  • Must currently hold or be willing earn a USAF Small Unmanned Aircraft System Operator (SUAS-O) certification
  • Experience operating rotary sUAS platforms under 25 pounds
  • Extensive knowledge of several sUAS systems, to include multi-rotary platforms
  • Experience with Geographic Information systems (GIS)
  • Two (2) years of experience in a role requiring:
  • Experience providing effective and creative geospatial solutions based on technical and client requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on client and team member engagement
  • Proven experience providing excellent customer service
  • Strong technical proficiency using Microsoft Office products
  • Attention to detail - proven experience meeting data quality assurance and accuracy standards
  • Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and as a member of a large organization
  • Ability to offer constructive feedback and problem solving, as well as clear direction to support goals
Preferred Qualifications
  • USAF, SUAS-Operator Certification (SUAS-O)
  • Basic Unmanned Aircraft Systems Qualification Level I-IV (BUQ I/II/III/IV)
  • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP)
  • Experience creating and implementing solutions for DoD or other geospatial enterprise systems
