Responsibilities & Requirements:
Under the direction of the provider and/or practice manager, assists and delivers patient care duties, and provides administrative support and supervision throughout the practice. This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of provider.This position also interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The position will be cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care
- Patient care duties include: preparing patients and exam rooms for provider consultation, taking medical history and vitals, scheduling appointments (e.g. lab, x-ray), explaining processes, assisting providers in special procedures (including minor surgery), remove sutures, clean wounds, apply dressings, notify patients of lab results, give shots and immunizations, ongoing patient observation prior to, during, and following administration of treatment.
- Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by provider.
- Ensure smooth progression of patient schedule, working with practice team to assure smooth patient flow.
- Follows HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members.
- Participates in regulatory compliance and quality management initiatives/activities while maintaining fiscal accountability.
- Serves as a resource to staff on patient care and clinical policies and procedure issues, and is a liaison between patients, the practice, the hospital and community resources.
- Manages schedules, time and attendance, provides daily coaching and support, collaborates with practice manager and assists with corrective/disciplinary discussions/actions.
Provides input on performance evaluations.
Job Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license
- 1-year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting
- Current Ohio LPN license.
- Basic Life Support certification required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in physician practice and use of electronic medical records preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred.
