Senior Psychologist

CoAction West Cork are looking for a Senior Psychologist to cover the West Cork area. This is a specific purpose part-time position.

Please note that a 12 month panel may be formed from these interviews from which future permanent, temporary, part-time or

full-time vacancies may be recruited for.

Job Description

Responsible to: The Head of Service - Psychology

Base: You will be providing comprehensive psychological services within the West Cork catchment area.

Your base will be in West Cork.

Overall Purpose of Position:

To work with the Psychology team in the provision of a comprehensive psychological service to children with an Intellectual Disability. To be involved in the support and supervision of basic grade, assistant/trainee psychologists.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide a broad range of psychological services to children and their families. Psychology services may be provided directly to the children or indirectly to family members etc. Psychology services may be provided through face to face consultation or through telehealth.
  • To complete a range of psychological assessments as required.
  • To provide a range of psychological interventions as required including but not exclusive to providing support with emotional regulation, self-esteem, bereavement support, dementia screening, group interventions etc.
  • To liaise with adults and their families as appropriate with regard to assessments, outcomes, interventions and reviews.
  • To actively participate in CoAction internal meetings, e.g. psychology meetings, meeting with the Hub managers, Person-Centred Planning, family meetings etc. as appropriate.
  • To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and to be involved in team meetings, assessments, reviews and interventions.
  • To provide professional reports and to participate in case conferences and other consultancy work as may be required.
  • To liaise with other professionals and organisations as appropriate and to represent the organisation at meetings, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • To keep records and submit reports as may be required by the Head of Psychology, Director of Services or CEO.
  • To provide in-service training to CoAction staff as required or other relevant persons.
  • to take responsibility for one's own continued professional development
  • to actively use supervision to benefit one's professional practice
  • to carry out research relevant to the organisation as required.
  • To keep up to date with best practice procedures and at all times to work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics as laid down by the Psychological Society of Ireland and also the ethos of CoAction West Cork.

Supervision:

  • To support and supervise as required assistant, trainee or basic grade psychologists.
  • To identify training needs and support ongoing professional development among psychology staff.
  • To be involved in the planning, development and evaluation of CoAction's psychology services.

General Particulars:

  • This is a 2 day post (14 hours per week)
  • Annual Leave – 25 days (pro rata)

Remuneration:

  • The remuneration for this post will be based on the salary for a Senior Psychologist.

Other Requirements:

  • Each candidate must have their own means of transport and a full driving licence.

In the event that a number of years experience is required for a post, you will be requested to provide documentary evidence that you possess same. If you are the holder of a non-Irish qualification, please note that in order to be appointed, your qualifications must be verified by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
