The Role

The HR Manager will play a vital role in developing a highly skilled workforce, nurturing a collaborative and innovative culture, and managing the entire employee lifecycle within a specialised, low-volume manufacturing environment. Furthermore, the HR Manager will serve as a key link to Ricardo’s UK corporate headquarters to ensure alignment with strategic HR initiatives and organisational values.

This role reports into VP of Opeartions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Strategy:
Lead efforts to attract top-tier leaders, technical specialists, and manufacturing technicians vital to Ricardo’s specialised product lines, ensuring full resourcing of DTC operations in time for Q3 2026 production. Coordinate rigorous interview and technical assessment processes to secure hires with the highest expertise and cultural alignment.
  • Onboarding & Integration:
Oversee a comprehensive onboarding programme to ensure new hires integrate seamlessly and quickly contribute to Ricardo’s startup culture.
  • Culture Building:
Drive initiatives that foster a high-energy, collaborative, and accountable workplace. Support leadership in cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Performance Management:
Develop and manage systems for performance evaluation, goal setting, and employee development, enhancing engagement and aligning with company objectives.
  • Strategic HR Planning & Transition to Stability:
Guide the HR function through its initial industrialisation phase, transitioning it into a self-sustaining department as the facility matures. Collaborate with leadership to adapt HR strategies to support production growth and workforce expansion.
  • Employee Relations:
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff, addressing employee relations matters promptly and fairly to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Policy Development & Compliance:
Create and maintain HR policies that ensure legal compliance and alignment with Ricardo’s global standards. Work closely with corporate headquarters to uphold consistent global HR practices.
  • Training & Development:
Design and implement a training strategy tailored to site needs, including managing local training providers for shop floor programmes. Maximise opportunities for local grants and funding to support workforce development.
  • HR Operations & Administration:
Oversee core HR functions, including payroll, benefits, and personnel records, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Communication & Collaboration:

Partner with corporate HR Centres of Expertise—Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, and Learning & Development—to leverage resources and align on company-wide HR initiatives.

Key Competencies and Experience
  • Proven ability to manage operational and facilities teams while fostering a high-performance culture in a growing organisation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Skilled in recruiting for highly specialised technical roles, utilising technical assessments and structured interview techniques.
  • Proficient in integrating and optimising HRIS tools from affiliated businesses.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Experience in a multinational organisation and cross-functional collaboration across geographies is advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the UK headquarters and undertake periodic domestic travel.
