The Animal Industry Division (AID) of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is committed to protect, regulate, and promote animal health. In doing so public health, animal health and well-being, and animal industries are safeguarded through collaborative efforts and implementation of effective programs.The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to the Animal Industry Divisions Atlanta Office. This position will compile, review, and monitor division reports relating to the Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication program areas.
The official work location for this position is the Atlanta Regional Office. This position may offer some agreed upon remote work arrangement.

Required Education and Experience
EducationEducation typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience
Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.
OR One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay.
