Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced medical environment. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

The Medical Assistant will support both outpatient and inpatient services, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. The ideal candidate should be able to take initiative, work independently without the need for close supervision, and possess a clear understanding of tasks and objectives to achieve successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Answering phone calls, directing calls to the appropriate department, and taking messages.
Handling patient inquiries and directing them as needed.
Coordinating referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers.
Collecting and verifying patient information, including insurance details.
Scheduling appointments and managing cancellations/rescheduling.
Processing payments or copays.
Maintaining accurate patient records (updating demographics, insurance, etc.).
Filing and organizing patient charts.
Assisting with electronic health records (EHR) and ensuring data accuracy.
Preparing charts for daily appointments and ensuring all paperwork is complete.

Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits.

Assisting with billing processes
Explaining billing procedures and patient balances.
Adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Skills

Answering phone calls, taking messages, and routing calls appropriately.
Drafting, editing, and responding to emails and written communication.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
Ability to work efficiently in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Excellent time management skills
Strong proofreading abilities
Computer literacy, Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft and basic computer skills.
Administrative and organizational skills
Calendar management
Understanding of office organization practices and principles and a desire to optimize them Excellent time management and multitasking skills
A reliable and professional demeanour
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a medical office or administrative role (preferred).
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Reliable and must be a strong problem solver

Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is *MANDATORY*

Job Type: Part-time/full time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 30 per week
