Reporting to the Project Engineer Manager, the Project Engineer (PE) is the main technical referent during the implementation phase of Claro Enterprise Solutions' telecommunications projects. The PE is responsible for working with the Program and Project Managers, Pre-Sales Engineers, clients, third parties and Service Assurance Engineers to ensure all technical solutions proposed to the customers are solid and are implemented correctly.This position is responsible for the coordination of cross functional telecom engineering teams and performs detailed technical project implementation. As a technical referent, the PE is the main point of contact for troubleshooting issues that may arise during the implementation phase and occasionally assist during the lifecycle period of the project.
The PE must be able to understand complex telecommunication requirements and be able to discuss them with people of different backgrounds and skills fluently in two languages: English and Spanish. Communication and teamwork are essential in this position.
This is a customer-oriented, extremely demanding position within a complex environment. It requires a special attention to detail and a disposition to work in difficult time schedules occasionally. The candidate must observe a high sense of responsibility and have a goal-oriented work mentality.
Responsibilities:
Telecommunications Solution Analysis- Understand complex telecom technical solutions proposed by different teams including mostly MPLS, SD-WAN, P2P, and Internet elements.
- Understand modern telecom backbone design, as well as customer’s end solution designs.
- Identify flaws, improvements or propose different technical solutions.
- Identify potential technical risks, solutions and workarounds needed to meet and exceed customer’s expectations before and during implementation.
- Propose configuration standards.
- Solution Implementation
- Communicate with the Project Manager and customers as the technical lead.
- Define technical configurations according that meet the standars within the scope of the project.
- Identify diverse equipment operating software and firmware requirements as well as their respective necessary licenses.
- Define method of procedures and resources needed to conduct implementation activities.
- Coordinate interaction between different systems and Engineers in several countries.
- Attend testing and implementation calls and/or online meetings.
- Discuss technical issues, solutions and workarounds with internal and external stakeholders.
- Configure and operate monitoring systems.
- Adhere to customer’s schedules mostly in Latin America.
- Position oneself as the main technical lead to troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during implementation.
- Ensure the final technical solution is delivered according to project scope and internal standards.
- Ensure the customer acceptance of the implemented technical solution.
- Automate repetitive implementation tasks to minimize manual interventions during implementation and activation activities.
- Use several IT tools to document project requirements, changes and final solutions.
- Manage documentation efficiently in order to comply with tight delivery frames.
- Prepare special technical reports in standard and non-standard formats.
- Document all technical information needed for a clean implementation and transition to maintenance teams in different countries.
Qualifications:
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not supervise other employees.
Qualifications:
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Familiarity with service delivery processes
- Fluent use of standard MS Office software.
- Expertise in troubleshooting the following routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
- Expertise in troubleshooting: MPLS, QoS, IPv6, IP Multicast, SD-WAN.
- Sound knowledge in VoIP, UC&C, Security Technologies.
- Knowledge in Cloud Technologies.
- Cisco CCNA , CCIP, CCNP and Juniper Jun OS Certification a plus.
- ITILv3 Foundation Certification a plus.
Education and/or Experience:
- BS Electronics, Telecommunications or Systems Engineering
- 2+ years with customer interface experience in related area
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish required
- Portuguese desired
- Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 / year base, OTE based on several factors including but not limited to education and work experience.;
