Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a RSS Universal Banker. The RSS Universal Banker is responsible for delivering a remarkable in-branch experience for their clients by providing a concierge style of banking. By utilizing a needs-based approach, the RSS Universal Banker will provide support and service for all of their client’s needs while visiting our community offices.The Banker will open and processes all types of deposit and loan accounts including complex retail and business products such as consumer loans, merchant accounts, and small business loans as well as cross-sell additional bank services and refer clients to other departments as appropriate.
The Universal Banker will also have a full understanding of how to processes a variety of financial transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. They will develop and deepen relationships with clients based on trust and the demonstrated ability to identify client needs and consult clients on Sandy Spring Bank products and services.Answer questions and/or resolves complex technical problems on client accounts. Comply with all Federal, State, and local consumer protection laws governing loan origination.
The Banker will be responsible for providing temporary coverage for open Personal Banker/Universal Banker and Teller positions in the branches or as assigned.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Client Service
Earns the client’s trust by enthusiastically adhering to all required service standards and serves as role model for delivering the highest quality service. Resolves client concerns or seeks assistance as needed.
- Transaction Processing
Identifies new business opportunities through transaction processing.
- Retail Banking Business Development
Will conduct a thorough financial needs assessment with clients and recommend the most appropriate products and services that fulfill the clients’ immediate and future financial needs.
Takes a leading role in achieving production goals for deposits, loans, fee income, and other goals that are assigned. Coordinates referrals with other business lines to achieve growth objectives. Utilizes sales techniques such as profiling, active listening, and tele-consulting to generate business.
- Consumer Loans
- Cross-Business Line Referrals
Maintains familiarity with products offered by other business lines and refers business to other internal partners as appropriate. Cultivate relationships with commercial and small business lenders, and branch staff to facilitate a smooth transition for referrals and client introduction.
- Risk Management
Follows established audit, security, and compliance guidelines to protect the staff, company assets, and clients from harm or loss. Maintains familiarity with procedures and policies that are subject to audit to ensure audit scores are at acceptable levels.
Required Skills:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- If selected and hired for the position, continued employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of the required Training and Assessment.
- Position requires a minimum of 12 months work experience in a sales/service position, preferably in the financial services industry. Work requires broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in retail banking, and relationship sales. Position requires extensive knowledge of bank products and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- A high level of client service is integral to this role. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is comfortable interacting with external clients and centers of influence, as well as internal partners, and who excels at developing strong, trusting relationships. Must work well under tight deadlines and with multiple priorities.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and have strong attention to detail and follow-through. Must be organized and be able to multi-task. Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately.
- Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.
- Requires successful registration with, and issuance of a unique identification number from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) in compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act).
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.

Compensation Information:
At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.
