As the University of California's largest academic preparation program, EAOP helps students in underserved schools prepare for college and the work force by completing all UC and California State University admissions requirement, and apply for college and financial aid.

Through a series of collaborative strategies that include Academic Enrichment Programs, Academic Advising, Test Preparation, and Parent Engagement; EAOP is position to develop the next generation of university scholars.

Responsibilities:

Under direction of higher-level K-14 Academic Preparation Specialist, works with assigned institutions and organizations to implement academic preparation programming of moderate scope. Maintains program visibility in schools. Maintains collaborative relationships with K-14 institutions and / or community entities.

Maintains relationships with higher education institutions.

Required:

  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
  • Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
  • Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to research and develop program presentation and materials.
  • Ability to train and supervise undergraduate student staff.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to present/speak before a large group.
  • 1-3 years Experience working for outreach efforts in a university setting.

Preferred:

  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English language skills

Special Conditions:

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple locations/school sites in one day.
