Machine Operator - Third Shift
Overview:
The position will provide perform subsets of mixing, pelleting, extrusion, process routing, grinding and as-needed packaging responsibilities within the Standard Diet facility.
3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Starting rate: $23.75 per hour w/additional $3.00 per hour for 3rd shift premium
Responsibilities:
- Mix ingredients to established standard diet formulations utilizing ingredient handling and mixing equipment
- Pellet standard diets utilizing pelleting process equipment; pellet mill, pellet dryer cooler, associated product conveyance equipment
- Extrude standard diets utilizing extrusion process equipment, extruder, extrusion dryer, associated product conveyance equipment
- Operate either of two diet and ingredient grinding systems including routing and conveyance equipment
- Perform and document in-process quality control measurements including but not limited to diet moisture and temperature, product durability, product density and finished product dimension and weight compliant with established quality system
- Complete and maintain production related documentation compliant with established quality system
- Complete and document in-process preventative maintenance that includes but is not limited to equipment lubrication and equipment cleaning to ensure compliance with established quality system
- Attain and maintain knowledge and ability to perform packaging responsibilities – function in a backup capacity
- Participate in training of new employees once achieving a measured level IV competent machine operator I
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Attend and comprehend all employee health & safety training to ensure that workplace behavior and conduct is compliant with workplace expectations
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Overtime as needed including alternate shifts and/or weekends
- This role involves working at elevated locations, such as ladders and elevators. Candidates should be comfortable with heights and not experience significant fear or discomfort in such situations
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Completed High School education
English communication – written, reading and oral
Industry experience a plus
Preferred Skills
Neat and legible handwriting
Developed and accurate basic math ability – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
Ability to accurately transpose written and printed information to quality record documents
Ability to work in a standing position for periods of time up to 6.0 hours
Ability to climb and descend stairs and vertical ladders
Perform repetitive tasks
Microsoft Office Suite – user skills
Additional Notes
Physical mobility within facility
Ability to lift 55 lb. objects from floor to shoulder height
Aptitude to comprehend solid and liquid process flow within a manufacturing environment
Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed (including alternative shifts and weekends)- This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
